Why are the 6 Council Staff Listening & Sharing Engagements happening?
Met Council is assessing its small business inclusion activities, programs, policies, goals, objectives, and outcomes to determine if, and where, it needs to make changes. The six (6) Council staff listening engagements are intended to provide space for Met Council to engage staff prior to making any changes so that staff may provide meaningful insight into areas where changes may be made to Met Council’s existing small business inclusion practices, programs and/or policies.
Who may attend the Council Staff Listening & Sharing Engagements?
Each of the six (6) engagements are designated to hear from specific Met Council Departments: 1) Council Procurement Staff; 2) Certified Business Program Administrators; 3) Council Project Managers and Business Units; 4) Open to All Staff; 5) Staff Focused on Equity; 6) Senior Leadership.
Where will the Department Listening Engagements take place?
All six (6) Council Staff Listening & Sharing Engagements and the Council Staff & Business Owner Shareback will be held virtually, via Zoom.
When are the Council Staff Listening & Sharing Engagements and the Department & Community Shareback?
Council Staff Session 1: Thursday, April 11th, from 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. CST (Council Procurement Staff) (Location: Virtual)
Council Staff Session 2: Wednesday, April 24th from 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. CST (Certified Business Program Administrators) (Location: Virtual)
Council Staff Session 3: Wednesday, May 1st from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. CST (Council Project Managers and Business Units) (Location: Virtual)
Council Staff Session 4: Thursday, May 9th from 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. CST (“Open” Session)(Location: Virtual)

Is there a deadline to register for the engagements?
Attendees may register up to 2 business days prior to each scheduled engagement. Specific registration deadlines can be found on the registration page for each individual engagement listed here.
I received an e-mail from Eventbrite stating "Order Received" but I have not received any additional e-mails with the Zoom link or calendar invites. Am I registered for the session?
Late 2023 Eventbrite made some updates to its event registration process where someone may provide their name and e-mail; select register; and receive an "Order Received" e-mail... but the person has not fully completed the registration process if the event host has additional registration questions. As a result, the person is only listed as "Info Requested" within the "Order Received" e-mail under the "Order Summary" section. To fully register, a person must complete all of the registration questions. On the Eventbrite page for the staff engagements we do have additional questions. These questions do pop up within a matter of seconds after clicking "Register" on the first page and note that "Your Organizer Needs More Details". This is where you fill in the additional questions. Upon completing this, you will be fully registered. We have a brief instructional videos here to assist with navigating this aspect of the registration process.
If you received an "Order Received" e-mail from Eventbrite and see "Info Requested" please simply click the "Get Tickets" button in that e-mail to finish your registration.
Will I get any reminders for the engagements?
Yes. You will receive the following:
7-Day Reminder E-mail from Eventbrite: This includes the Zoom link and reminders to update your Zoom profile.
2-Day Reminder E-mail from Strong & Starlike: This includes the Zoom link; you receive a calendar invite; a reminder on how to update your Zoom profile; and a note on if you can no longer make the session what to do.
2-Hour Reminder E-mail from Eventbrite: This again includes the Zoom link and reminders to update your Zoom profile.
Will I receive a calendar invite and Zoom link?
Yes. A Zoom link will be sent 7 days prior to the engagement via the Eventbrite 7 day reminder email. Once registration closes, 2 days prior to the engagement, registered attendees will receive a calendar invite from MetCProject@strongandstarlike.com.
Early during the pandemic we used to share the Zoom link with the confirmation e-mail as well as the calendar invite. However, when "Zoom bombing" events (defined as people attending virtual events who would draw vulgar or obscene images on the screen during the event) started to increase for data security purposes we removed these things from the registration confirmation so that we are able to confirm registered attendees were actual individuals and not potential "Zoom bombers".
May I attend more than one engagement?
We are asking Council staff to limit their participation to one engagement so that we may ensure there is enough space for all staff wanting to be engaged, to be heard and valued. Each engagement will follow a similar structure.
May I request ADA accommodations, or other services such as translation, to participate in one of the scheduled engagements?
In an effort to make these sessions as accessible as possible we seek to offer translation, interpretation, and/or ADA accommodations where feasible. You will be able to make specific accommodation requests on each engagement's registration page when submitting your registration.
What is the Council Staff & Business Owner Shareback?
The shareback will be a time to playback to all who participated in the Council Staff Listening Sessions or the Business Owner Listening Sessions what was shared and heard across all engagement sessions before finalizing program recommendations.
